MEDIA RELEASE: Raise the Roof
Greenline has launched an online fundraising effort that will benefit school sun-safety efforts in communities in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
Taking the fight against Melanoma to schools from September 2017, Greenline invited schools to participate in an online fundraising raffle for their chance to win a $25,000, 8x8m shade structure for their school.
In addition to the first prize donation, Greenline will also put up the second prize of a school branded gazebo and two individual ticketholders prizes of an ‘outdoors pack’ plus GoPro Home5 for first prize and an ‘outdoors pack’ plus FitBit Charge 2 for second prize.
All funds raised by the raffle will be donated to MIA. Schools will also be encouraged to take advantage of MIA school sun-safe programs and offered a discount on future Greenline shade structures for a period of 12months following the draw.
According to Managing Director, Richard Wallace, this fundraiser is just the starting point.
“We’re really keen to make a difference in Melanoma prevention. Creating shades is only half the battle. Melanoma Institute Australia is leading the world in melanoma research, treatment and education to save lives. That takes a lot of money and support.
“We’re starting our campaign in a really targeted way but we have big visions to take Raise the Roof much further in our communities. We hope the schools and their friends and families will really get behind this important cause – to raise awareness, raise funds and raise the roof at their school,” said Mr Wallace.
MIA is a non-profit organisation dedicated to preventing and curing melanoma through pioneering research, treatment and education.
Furthering its commitment to MIA, Greenline this year signed on as a sapphire partner for the next three years.
Mr Wallace said the partnership is a natural progression for the company.
“For two generations, we’ve been in the business of building structures that shield people from the weather and harsh Australian outdoor conditions.
“We’ve always recognised the importance of sun protection and promoted safe, active outdoor living but we honestly were not fully aware of the facts until we met with MIA.
“One in five Australians will die each day this year from Melanoma. Knowing that, we couldn’t be in this business and not make it our concern to do something more about it,” said Mr Wallace.
“If we can contribute in some small way to ensure the important work of MIA continues, we’ll be very happy.”
